Born in 2001, Walter Shinichi Tadokoro grew up in West Sacramento, just across the river from the capital of California. His journey began as a kid, gardening, assembling LEGOs, and pulling apart electronics to see how they worked. In 2021, Walter turned his passions for design, stewardship, and fashion into a used fashion upcycling project called Retro-Fit. Since graduating with a concentration in city planning at Sonoma State University, Retro-Fit continues to evolve, embodying the idea that cycles of innovation are not tied to systems of wasting. Inspired by challengers of the status quo, Walter’s project pivots to examine how retrofitting the urban and rural to better solve the challenges of today.
